I want to thank all students and staff for your efforts on the 3rd WDA mirror exam they recently took. These tests are of the utmost importance as they allow students and teachers to identify academic strengths and weaknesses before the California Standards Tests (CSTs).
The CSTs are coming soon. Please make sure and mark your calendars from April 29th to May 10th of 2013, to make sure that all students come to school all days the tests are given. Preparation for the CSTs takes place every day in class and at home. The lessons you learn in the classroom, your homework and projects, and everything students do to learn the grade level standards is our formal way to prepare for the CSTs.
Additionally, we are now doing test-prep activities and soon, we will be having our CST assemblies where all students will receive their current scores. The goal for all students is the same, to score at a Proficient or Advanced level and our school-wide API goal is 757 for 2013. Remember that a direct benefit for all students scoring Proficient or Advanced is that they can take other fun elective classes that are not Intervention in English or Mathematics. The more students scoring Proficient or Advanced, the more fun elective classes we can offer. We want our students to try their hardest on the STAR exam, for their effort we will reward our students with a CST celebration activity along with a raffle for many prizes.
Parent, WVMS’s attendance (ADA) goal for 2013 is 98%. Please make sure you send your student to school every day prepared and ready to learn. Any absences should be cleared with the main office and try to schedule your any appointments in the afternoon. Again, the state test is right around the corner and we need our students to be present because WVMS teachers are re-teaching all the power standards in preparation for the CST.
I want to thank our students for listening to our request to take care of our campus and keeping it beautiful. We have seen less trash on the floor and no food on the black top and grass area. Keep up the good work!
